Abstract
|
|
|
Herediatary elliptocytosis is transmitted as an autosomal dominant trait and
characterized by elliptocytosis in peripheral blood with variable degree of hemolysis.
Recently the authors experienced one case of herediatary elliptocytosis. The patient was
admitted to our hospital because of melena and diagnosed as upper gastrointestinal
bleeding due to chronic duodenal ulcer. On routine hematologic examinations, anemia and
elliptocytosis in peripheral blood without hemolytic evidence were found. 3 persons of
his family revealed also elliptocytosis in peripheral blood. Bone marrow examinations
showed mild erythroid hyperplasia. After supportive treatment he was improved and
discharged. So we report one case of herediatary elliptocytosis with brief review of
literatures.
